LeapFive Technology Partners with Global Giants to Usher in a New Era of AI with RDSA Industry Alliance
Release time:
2024-09-20
On September 20th, the RDSA Summit was held at the Zhuhai International Convention Center, gathering over 300 industry leaders, entrepreneurs, and developers from around the world. The forum delved into the innovative integration of RISC-V (the fifth-generation Reduced Instruction Set Computer open architecture) and DSA (Domain-Specific Architecture), discussing future trends and opportunities for RISC-V in the AI era.
During the event, LeapFive Technology, as a key founding member, officially unveiled the RDSA Industry Alliance—the world’s first RISC-V-based DSA industrial innovation cooperation organization. This initiative aims to help global developers and various industries rapidly embrace the new opportunities brought by RISC-V.
With the theme “Connecting Chip, Fostering Success,” the forum was hosted by the RDSA Industry Alliance, organized by Zhuhai Huafa Group Co., Ltd. and Guangdong LeapFive Technology Co., Ltd. Chen Yong, Party Secretary of Zhuhai and Secretary of the Hengqin Working Committee of the Guangdong Provincial Party Committee, delivered a speech and inaugurated the RDSA Industry Alliance. Other officials in attendance included NPC Deputy and the Mayor of Zhuhai Huang Zhihao, Chairman of the Zhuhai Municipal People’s Congress Standing Committee Pan Jiang, and Chairman of the Zhuhai Municipal Political Consultative Conference Wang Kaizhou.

New Opportunities in the AI Era:
RISC-V + DSA Accelerating Forward
As AI continues to spread globally, there is a growing demand for computing architecture upgrades. RISC-V, with its open, flexible, and low-power features, is quickly becoming a rising star after x86 and ARM. The forum primarily explored how to seize the opportunities of the AI era to promote further industrial adoption of RISC-V.
“RISC-V is rapidly gaining momentum in the high-performance market,” said Balaji Baktha, board member of the RISC-V International Foundation and founder of Ventana Micro Systems. "With the advent of the AI era, the demand for computing at all levels is growing exponentially, requiring domain-specific acceleration to meet this need. Chiplets + DSA are key to extending Moore's Law, offering the same large-scale workload performance with 50% fewer servers. We are excited to participate in the construction of the RDSA Industry Alliance, which will allow global developers to break free from the limitations of traditional SoCs."

New Platform for Open
Cooperation: The RDSA Industry Alliance
The development of a robust ecosystem requires a strong platform. At this forum, the RDSA Industry Alliance— the world’s first RISC-V-based DSA innovation cooperation platform—was officially launched. Led by Huafa Group, LeapFive Technology, and Ventana Micro Systems, the alliance brings together leading companies, institutions, and industry leaders from the RISC-V and semiconductor industries worldwide.
Dr. Aglaia Kong, founder, CEO, and CTO of LeapFive Technology noted the significant challenges AI poses to data center infrastructures. "Maximizing the potential of RISC-V while optimizing costs and realizing chiplet-based RISC-V + DSA technology, are key challenges the RDSA Industry Alliance aims to address."
Dr. Kong further explained that, drawing on the success and operational models of ODSA, the RDSA Industry Alliance is committed to promoting the adoption of "RISC-V + DSA + Chiplets." The alliance will gather cutting-edge semiconductor innovations and high-end resources globally, fostering international exchange and cooperation. It aims to create an open innovation platform for RISC-V and DSA, encouraging industry-wide innovation and unlocking new business opportunities.

In addition, the alliance will provide chiplet suppliers with market opportunities and demonstration scenarios, support the development of global standards, and promote the standardization and commercialization of chiplets. The goal is to establish a global industry alliance that ensures a stable chiplet supply chain.
According to Dr. Kong, Zhuhai was chosen as the headquarters for the alliance because of its open-source innovation-friendly environment and willingness to embrace technological advances. Huafa Group, a rapidly growing conglomerate with a deep understanding of the IC industry, will collaborate with LeapFive to ensure the efficient implementation of the alliance, turning theoretical concepts into practical realities.
New Urban Scenarios: “Smart City
with Could”Opening New Industrial Spaces
“RISC-V’s core value of openness and collaboration aligns perfectly with Zhuhai's development philosophy of openness, innovation, and win-win cooperation,” said Yao Wei, Deputy Director of the Zhuhai Municipal Bureau of Industry and Information Technology. Zhuhai has a strong foundation in both software and hardware open-source industries, with a growing atmosphere of open-source adoption. The city is accelerating the construction of the “Smart City with Cloud,” promoting technological, industrial, and scenario innovations while fostering new productive forces in AI, humanoid robotics, open-source systems, and the low-altitude economy. “We will leverage the comprehensive advantages of open scenarios within the Cloud Smart City to provide full support for RISC-V innovation breakthroughs and practical applications,” said Yao.
