Release time:
2024-12-02
IoT Wi-Fi/BLE modules integrate Wi-Fi and Bluetooth BLE communication SoCs with essential hardware components like transceivers, controllers, antennas, and peripheral interfaces. These modules enable traditional offline devices to connect to wireless networks, facilitating real-time data transfer and remote control. By leveraging these modules, developers can accelerate the creation of smart devices and reduce development cycles.
As technology evolves and market demands shift, electronic devices are becoming smaller. From smartphones to wearable devices, smart homes to IoT terminals, consumers increasingly seek compact, high-performance products. This trend has intensified the need for miniaturized PCBAs. Designing ultra-compact Wi-Fi/BLE modules is crucial for space-constrained applications, such as smart home control panels housed in standard 86-box enclosures, where component thickness is a critical factor.

To meet the demand for compact Wi-Fi/BLE modules, LeapFive Technology has developed and launched the LF-WM06, an ultra-compact IoT Wi-Fi + BLE Combo Module. Based on LeapFive’s LF686C (RISC-V@32bit@192MHz), this module is cost-effective, high-performing, and incredibly compact, measuring just 13.00mm x 13.00mm x 2.40mm. Compared to conventional Wi-Fi/BLE modules, the LF-WM06 is 50% smaller and features an external antenna design, minimizing PCBA space requirements. It is especially suitable for space-restricted PCBAs.
The LF-WM06 module comes equipped with 276KB SRAM, 128KB ROM, and supports the 802.11 b/g/n standard and BLE 5.0 protocol. It also integrates multiple high-speed peripherals, including GPIO, UART, I2C, SPI, and PWM, to meet complex application requirements. Developers can choose between two development modes:
- AT Command Development: Ideal for most scenarios, improving development efficiency.
- SDK-Based Development: Suited for advanced customization, with a rich set of APIs and development tools.
Typical use cases for the LF-WM06 module include smart homes/appliances, smart lighting, smart security, smart cities, and industrial automation. Its exceptional cost-efficiency and compact design have earned widespread acclaim and adoption across various industries, particularly in smart home and smart city sectors.
With advancements in technologies like 5G and edge computing, IoT Wi-Fi/BLE modules will play an increasingly vital role in future smart devices. These modules, when integrated with sensors, cloud computing, and AI technologies, will drive innovation across smart cities, intelligent transportation, and industrial automation.
