Dr. Aglaia Kong of LeapFive Technology Honored with the Macau SAR Medal of Merit - Professional

On November 29, the Macau Special Administrative Region (MSAR) held the 2024 Ceremony for Decorations, Medals, and Certificates of Merit at the Macau Cultural Centre Grand Auditorium. Dr. Aglaia Kong, Founder, CEO, and CTO of LeapFive Technology, was awarded the “Medal of Merit - Professional” in recognition of her remarkable contributions to technological innovation and industrial development.
The Chief Executive of the Macau SAR, Ho Iat Seng, presented Dr. Kong with the “Medal of Merit - Professional.”
Dr. Kong, an alumnus of Pui Ching Middle School in Macau, has over 30 years of research and development experience in Silicon Valley. She is recognized as a trailblazer in GPS and GIS navigation technologies and holds more than 20 patents. Her past roles include CTO of Enterprise Networking at Google, Global CTO for Networking and IoT at Cisco, VP of Global Innovation at Cisco, CTO for Cisco China, and Fellow, CTO, and VP at Symantec.
Since returning to China in 2018, Dr. Kong has been actively advancing Macau’s technology sector. She serves on various public committees, including the Macau Science and Technology Council, the Macau Talent Development Committee, and the University of Macau Board of Trustees. Her efforts have been pivotal in driving innovation, attracting and cultivating talent, and supporting Macau’s economic diversification and technological development.
The Medal of Merit - Professional is one of seven types of medals awarded by the Macau SAR. This honor is bestowed upon individuals or entities with exceptional performance and contributions in their professional fields. Alongside Dr. Kong, this year’s recipients include Ma Chi Ngai, Ieong Tou Hong, Zhang Zongzhen, and Chao Weng Hou.
